“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou
The definition of Lifestyle is the way you live which includes your Standard of living and Quality of life.
Love this:“If standard of living is your major objective, quality of life almost never improves, but if quality of life is your number one objective, your standard of living almost always improves.” – Zig Ziglar.
Standard Of Living refers to the material factors like income, luxuries such as refrigerators, furniture, big TV’s, automobiles, clothing. We’re very good at focusing on these because our society measures success with this ‘stuff’. That dumb saying: “He who dies with the most toys wins.”
Quality Of Life is usually what money can’t buy. Enjoying good health. A loving and harmonious home life with your family. Time for leisure, time to relax and be lazy. This is good because when you are relaxed you release dopamine the chemical which makes you feel great. Dopamine triggers more creative thoughts by increasing certain activities in the brain.
Spiritual life is so vital in these challenging times – meditation, reading scriptures that uplift you. Set work goals that inspire you. Work is one of your greatest blessings – ask anyone who doesn’t have a job.
Psychological health right now is vital – I’m seeing it here in SA and here again, a reminder of this is from that piece that was reported by the Guardian newspaper in the UK that six million people are now on antidepressants in the UK. The national depression level has more than doubled since pre-lockdown and suicide is now at a twenty-year high.
The stakes are high and your attitude toward ALL THE AREAS OF LIFE will significantly influence the quality of your life. What is important is having SPECIFIC GOALS to improve the various areas of your life.
When you feel good about yourself and your life your immune system is boosted big time!!!
Many medical professionals are saying that one of our best defenses against any virus is a strong immune system.
THE POWER OF SETTING WRITTEN GOALS FOR IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE AND STANDARD OF LIVING
- Add a Sense of Values: Goals demand that you reflect on your values in all the areas of your life and that you take a look at yourself in relation to your expectations.
- Add to Your Self-Respect: There is an intense satisfaction and self-confirmation in reaching a goal that you have committed yourself to accomplish
- Create a Sense of Purpose and Anticipation in Life: It’s easy to stay enthusiastic about something that’s really important to you that you feel strongly about. Like your family, like your health, etc.
- Help You Make Good Decisions: It is easier to decide upon a course of action if you know what you are trying to accomplish.
- Reduce Conflict: There is real security in knowing what you want to accomplish and how you plan to accomplish it.
- Help You to Concentrate: Once you really decide that you are going to reach a goal, you can see, hear and think of more possibilities for reaching it than you ever dreamed possible.
- Written Goals are Great Confidence Builders: When you know where you want to go and how you plan to get there, you are more confident in your ability.
