Saint Valentine created a sentiment which evolved into a holiday celebrating ‘LOVE’ but, although this day is usually reserved for sweethearts, we want to change all of that with this greeting.

So much happens in our world which takes our attention away from acknowledging those around us. There never seems time enough to enjoy the people with whom we live, work, live near, or associate and most importantly, time to love and appreciate ourselves. Remember that if you aren’t good at loving yourself, you will have a difficult time loving anyone else.

INSIGHT

When I feel proud of myself or love myself, that opinion is closer to who I really am, to how the Divine (God) sees me. My state of being is the way I feel about myself at any point of time. The Divine only feels love for me. When I degrade, scold, or criticise myself, I’m out of sync with the greater part of myself, and there are no greater crippling thoughts than those of self-denigration. When I am feeling proud of myself, believe in myself, love myself, I’m in sync with who I really am and I feel good!

ATTITUDE

It’s been said that: If you respect yourself, others will respect you; If you trust yourself, others will trust you; If you appreciate yourself, others will appreciate you; If you honour yourself, others will honour you.

ACTION

Sit down at your computer or with a pen and paper and describe in writing what your strengths, talents, skills and positive qualities are. Then read your notes over and over again – enjoying your own words and finding a way to love yourself more.

“Love is the great miracle cure. Loving ourselves works miracles in our lives.” – Louise Hay
